Comments (From American voters):
"Short and very meaningful"
"Turn Rain is short but it has an element of mystery that makes it work as a poem. A lot of the contestants wrote about conflict- with their education, their mothers or their sense of themselves. Turn Rain hints at conflict and leaves the reader with a sort of universal experience."
"I liked the distillation of the child-mother relationship into such a simple action. It made the protection and sacrifice for the child very poignant and visceral. Some of the other entries described similar feelings, but felt too expositional."
"The student who wrote 'Turn Rain' managed to do what a lot of American college graduates still can't: conjure vivid imagery while showing, *not telling*, the relationship between a mother and child. The poem is clearly about love, but never once mentions the word. All of this in 24 words. Bravo."
